Castrojeriz
The origin of Castrojeriz is Celtiberian, of the "Vaccean" tribes that settled in the hill; and the remains of walls and pottery emerged, one can speak of a village from the Bronze Age about 1500 years before Christ, this Castro was later romanized. Some scholars believe that this was the village of Autraca, others speak of a border town between "Vaccean" and "Turmogos" of Segisama, which could be the Sisaraca of "murgobos" or Ambisna. The current name is Castro Sigerici or Camp of Sigerico in the year 760, the name of the son of the Duke of Cantabria Don Fruela and brother of the first Count of Castile and repopulator of Burgos Don Rodrigo, which identifies the full Cronicón Albeldense in Volume XIII, but in medieval documents Xeriz evolves Castro, Castro Soriz, Castrosoriz, Castro Sorit, Castro Surita, Castro Soricis of History Compostellana or Castro Sorecia in the Codex Calixtinus of the twelfth century.
In the year 974 receives from the hands of Count Fernán González first Castilian "fuero" (minor law) is to consolidate as a major nuclear population against the kingdom of Leon.
